Police personnel from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command successfully foiled an attempted kidnapping at El-Rufai Estate in Bwari Area Council of the FCT early yesterday morning.
According to sources, the incident occurred around 2 a.m. when bandits tried to infiltrate the estate and abduct some residents. The police confronted the bandits, leading to a shootout. During the exchange of gunfire, one resident was injured in the crossfire.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident, stating that the police received a distress call and quickly mobilized operatives to repel the attackers. “We swiftly repelled the miscreants in a gun duel. Many of them escaped with bullet wounds,” she said.
She further urged the public to report any individuals seen with bullet wounds to the police, as efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing kidnappers.
