The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has made a passionate appeal to investors to take advantage of the vast opportunities available in the state, particularly in the marine and blue economy, agriculture, hospitality and tourism, health, transportation, and other sectors. Speaking at the 3rd Nigeria-Indonesia Forum in Port Harcourt, Fubara emphasized that Rivers State is the best investment destination for achieving economic success due to its status as the oil and gas hub of Nigeria.
The Governor, represented by Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, commended the leadership of the Nigeria-Indonesia Commercial Association and the Port Harcourt Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) for their continued support in promoting investment opportunities in the state.
Fubara highlighted the diverse opportunities available in agriculture and agro-based industries, marine resources and blue economy, hospitality and tourism, transportation, petroleum, and natural resources such as clay, raffia palm, and textile with promising labor. He urged participants to build partnerships for mutual economic benefits between Rivers State and Indonesia.
Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Nigeria, Dr. Ussra Hendru Harahap, also spoke at the forum, emphasizing the dynamic similarities between Nigeria and Indonesia. He revealed that Rivers State is host to Indonesia’s biggest investment in Nigeria and highlighted the potential for mutual benefits from diverse uses of palm fruit and other businesses.
The President of PHCCIMA, Sir Mike Elechi, stated that the aim of the business forum is to provide more business opportunities to the people of Rivers State and attract more investments that will expand and promote commercial activities in the state.
In another development, Governor Fubara has awarded scholarship grants to 100 children and widows of fallen heroes of the Nigerian Legion in Rivers State. The Governor represented by Dr. Danagogo advised the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and make good use of this opportunity by being focused on their studies.
The Governor commended the leadership of the Nigerian Legion for sustaining the scholarship scheme for widows and children of fallen heroes. He emphasized that education is the best gift one can give anyone, empowering them to become good leaders of society. The ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries including National Leader of Nigerian Legion, Maj. Gen. A.M Jubril (Rtd), Commissioner of Education Dr. Ivy Chiemedum, representatives of Service Chiefs, members of Nigerian Legion in Rivers State, and widows of fallen heroes.
