The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has deployed 4,200 personnel to ensure public safety and prevent potential violence during the planned protest in the nation’s capital.

In a statement, Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh said the deployment is aimed at protecting protesters, preventing hijacking by non-state actors, and maintaining law and order.

The security operative also deployed explosive ordinance devices experts, conducted raids on identified black spots, and established stop and search checkpoints. Vehicular and foot patrols are also ongoing, with synergy between police and other security agencies.

Commissioner of Police CP Benneth C. Igweh acknowledged the right to protest but emphasized the need for peaceful demonstrations. He warned that violent protests and lawlessness would be resisted, and urged residents to report suspicious activities through designated emergency lines.

The protest, organized by human rights activists and Nigerian youths, aims to express displeasure over hunger and hardship in the country.
