Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, announced that security forces have successfully identified and disrupted external funding sources for the #EndBadGovernance protests.
Speaking at a press conference with Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, Egbetokun highlighted the restrained approach of law enforcement, which has avoided the use of water cannons or rubber bullets.

He clarified that while some protesters were arrested for criminal activities such as theft, no force was used against the general demonstrators.
General Musa emphasized the military’s focus on those seeking an undemocratic change of government, stating that they are targeting individuals believed to be sponsored and are working to bring them to justice. He assured that their actions are aimed at those posing a threat to the state, not innocent protesters.
Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja reaffirmed the military’s commitment to maintaining peace and continuing its fight against terrorism and banditry.
In related news, Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, revealed that the agency is monitoring diaspora individuals suspected of funding the protests. She announced that these individuals are on a watchlist and would be detained if they attempt to enter Nigeria.
The Nigerian Immigration Service has also increased its border presence and enhanced surveillance to prevent foreign interference.
Additionally, the Department of State Services (DSS) has identified and blocked accounts linked to protest sponsors, with ongoing monitoring of individuals operating these accounts from abroad, according to DSS Spokesman Peter Afunanya.
