Nigerian actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele is bringing the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service into the spotlight with her upcoming movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa.
This collaboration, which Akindele promised during a visit to the fire service last month, aims to raise awareness about fire safety.
Jubril Gawat, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Lagos State Governor, announced the exciting news on X, sharing a video of the announcement. He wrote:
“Renowned Nollywood actress and CEO of Funke Akindele Network (FAAN), @funkeakindele, features the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service @LagosRescue in her highly anticipated film, as promised during her visit last month.”
During her visit to the fire service office in Alausa in July, Akindele expressed her commitment to integrating fire prevention themes into her film to help reduce fire outbreaks in Lagos. The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has welcomed this initiative, aligning with their mission to enhance public safety and prevent fire-related incidents.
Everybody Loves Jenifa, a spinoff from Akindele’s popular Jenifa franchise, is set to premiere in December. This collaboration with the fire service underscores Akindele’s dedication to using her platform for social good, aiming to educate the public on fire hazards and promote proactive safety measures.
