President Bola Tinubu has signed into law a significant bill raising salaries and allowances for judicial officials by 300%.

The new legislation, announced by Special Adviser on Senate Matters Basheer Lado, highlights Tinubu’s commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerian workers.

The bill amends the Certain Political, Public, and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc.) Act, No.6, 2002, removing previous provisions related to judicial officers and setting new compensation levels to better reflect current realities.

Lado described the approval as a demonstration of Tinubu’s dedication to the nation’s workforce, noting that the president has previously shown similar commitment by halting a Federal Executive Council meeting to sign the National Minimum Wage Bill.

The Senate passed the bill to raise the salaries and allowances of the judicial officials in June, underscoring its commitment to enhancing the welfare of Nigerians.

Lado praised the National Assembly for its role in improving the financial conditions of judicial officers, who are seen as vital to the nation’s justice system.

This decision is expected to reinforce the integrity of Nigeria’s judiciary and set a new standard for leadership that values the contributions of all workers.
