Abuja — The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reiterated his commitment to remain in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) despite ongoing internal conflicts within the party.

Speaking during a media parley marking his first anniversary as minister, Wike firmly dismissed speculation that he might leave the PDP, vowing instead to stay and confront any challenges head-on.

“I don’t run away from any fight. I will stay and fight it out. Who am I going to run from? The vampires? I cannot do that!” Wike declared, underscoring his resolve to remain within the party.

Wike’s comments come amid growing speculation that he may exit the PDP due to internal disputes, particularly those perceived as targeting him. However, the former Rivers State governor emphasized that his commitment to the party and his principles remains unwavering.

When questioned about the possibility of joining the All Progressives Congress (APC), Wike dismissed the idea, stating, “Anyone who knows me knows if I wanted to join the APC, I would do it openly. I’ve never hidden my stance, and I won’t start now. Integrity is very important.”

These remarks come just a day after Chief Edwin Clark, a former Federal Commissioner for Information, publicly called for Wike’s expulsion from the PDP. In an open letter addressed to the party’s National Chairman, Iliya Damagun, Clark accused Wike of using his influence with President Bola Tinubu to intimidate Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the PDP.

The Minister has not directly responded to Clark’s accusations, but his recent statements suggest that he remains undeterred and committed to his role within the PDP.
