Lagos, Nigeria – The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two men suspected of robbing three commercial sex workers. The arrest was confirmed by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday.
According to Hundeyin, the three victims reported the incident to the police early Wednesday morning at around 2:20 a.m. They recounted how they recognized the suspects, who had allegedly robbed them of their belongings on August 23, at approximately 4:30 a.m.
The victims, who work as commercial sex workers, said they were picked up by the suspects on Adeniran Ogunsanya Street in the Bode Thomas area of Surulere. The suspects initially took them to what was supposed to be their lodging, but abruptly stopped and demanded the women hand over their valuables.
During the robbery, the suspects seized two iPhones valued at ₦1.05 million, a REDMI Note 12 worth ₦140,000, and an iPhone SR worth ₦240,000. Additionally, the victims were forced to transfer ₦25,000 and ₦8,000 to an Opay account linked to the suspects.
Following their arrest, the suspects admitted to the crime during the police investigation. The authorities also recovered the suspects’ operational vehicle, a Toyota Camry with registration number APP335 JA, along with two blank number plates used in their operations. One of the stolen items, a REDMI Note 12, was also recovered.
Hundeyin confirmed that investigations into the case are ongoing.
