The Senior Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin of Christ MercyLand Ministry, has denied allegations that the church used the name of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to deceive Nigerians.
The denial was made through the church’s media outlet, MercyLand Television Deliverance Ministry, in response to a media report by a national daily online, which claimed that NAFDAC was investigating the church’s “Miracle Water” and “Soap” products.
According to the statement signed by Sophia Iloyd, the church is a law-abiding organization that recognizes the extant laws of the land and the NAFDAC Act. The statement further emphasized that the church’s activities are guided by Section 39 and 38 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which guarantees the right to freedom of religion.
The church also clarified that it has been using spiritual items in expression of its religious beliefs, and that these items are not consumable goods. The statement further stated that the church has never produced or sold any products to the public, let alone using NAFDAC’s name to deceive innocent members of the public.
The church also responded to allegations that it had received a letter from NAFDAC extending an invitation to its spiritual head to discuss its “Miracle Water” and “Soap” products. The statement revealed that the church had written to NAFDAC Headquarters office in Abuja, expressing its position on the matter.
The church also alleged that the nominal complainant who filed a petition against it with NAFDAC had forged receipts to bring a complaint against it. The statement further stated that an ongoing police investigation has revealed that the receipts were indeed forged and used falsely to procure an investigation into the church’s spiritual items.
The church’s statement also highlighted discrepancies in the receipts presented by the nominal complainant, which allegedly revealed that they were altered and different from those issued by the church’s accounting office.
In conclusion, the church maintained that it had never used NAFDAC’s name to deceive anyone, and that its activities are guided by its faith and biblical injunctions. The statement also called on NAFDAC to provide feedback on the issues raised by the church.
