Why I lost to Daniel Dubois – Anthony Joshua Reveals what went Wrong
Anthony Joshua Concedes Defeat, Blames Mistakes for Loss to Daniel Dubois

Former Two time heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua revealed the reasons behind his crushing defeat to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. The 34-year-old British boxer, known for his formidable presence in the ring, was knocked out in the fifth round by Dubois, who successfully retained his IBF heavyweight title.

Joshua’s downfall was attributed to a series of mistakes made throughout the bout, which he acknowledged during his post-match press conference. The fighter admitted that he started the fight off on the wrong foot, getting caught with an overhand right in the first round that left him reeling.

“I was caught with a good shot, and my chin was in the air,” Joshua said. “I didn’t have any defense, and it was a bit of a downhill slope from there.”

Despite attempting to turn the tide of the fight, Joshua struggled to regain his footing and was ultimately caught with another devastating blow – this time a powerful right hand to the chin – which ended the contest.

The loss was not without its turning points. Joshua revealed that he had caught Dubois with a good shot early in the fifth round, but his decision to launch into a firefight led to him being caught with an overhead right while throwing an uppercut. Joshua acknowledged that his lack of setup shots and impulsive decision-making allowed Dubois to capitalize on his mistakes.

“When you’re getting hit, it’s all about survival,” Joshua said. “I was in survival mode, trying to get out of there and have a shootout. But when you’re in a shootout like that, you need to be more precise and calculated in your attacks.”

Joshua’s words served as a candid admission of his mistakes and a testament to Dubois’ impressive performance. Despite the setback, Joshua remains optimistic about his future in the ring and is already looking ahead to his next challenge.
