Cattle Tragedy: Acura SUV Collides with Herd on Lagos Highway, Two Cows Killed

Lagos, Nigeria – A shocking incident involving a herd of cattle and an Acura Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) has left two cows dead and the vehicle significantly damaged on the Iyana-Oworo highway, inward Ogudu, in Lagos State.

The accident occurred on Sunday when a herd of cattle was crossing the highway, leading to a collision between the Acura SUV and the animals. The driver of the vehicle, whose identity was not disclosed, was unable to avoid the collision, resulting in the death of two cows.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has launched an investigation into the incident. According to LASTMA’s spokesman, Adebayo Taofiq, the vehicle was cleared from the road to facilitate smooth traffic flow and handed over to the police at Ogudu police station for further investigation.

In a separate incident on the same day, five persons were injured in a motor accident that occurred on Ifako Bridge en route to the Ogudu area of Lagos State. The accident involved a commercial Mazda bus and a mini-bus, and preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of the Mazda bus was distracted by eating while driving.

The driver’s loss of concentration was exacerbated by a sudden brake failure, which resulted in the collision and injuries to five individuals, including one male and four female passengers from the Mazda bus. The victims were promptly attended to by LASAMBUS and transported to the Accident and Emergency Centre located near the Toll Gate along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

LASTMA’s General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, has expressed his heartfelt sympathies to the victims and urged all motorists, particularly commercial bus operators, to prioritize road safety and remain vigilant to avoid dangerous driving practices.
