VeryDarkMan Apologizes to Nigeria Police for Wearing Police Uniform in Video

Social commentator Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, has publicly apologized to the Nigeria Police Force after facing criticism for appearing in a police uniform in a recent video. The controversy emerged earlier this week when Vanguard reported that the police condemned his unauthorized use of the uniform and launched an investigation into the matter.

In the disputed video, VeryDarkMan humorously introduced himself as a “Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) of the Online Division,” while sporting the police attire. Following the backlash, he took to social media on Thursday to issue an apology regarding his choice of costume, which closely resembles the official police uniform.

In his apology, VeryDarkMan emphasized the importance of obtaining proper authorization before donning police or law enforcement attire to prevent potential misunderstandings or legal issues. He stated, “I am back from the police station where I was questioned about my post that featured me in a costume resembling theirs. I never intended to impersonate the police in any way, and I sincerely apologize to the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector General of Police.”

Furthermore, he urged the public to always seek permission from law enforcement agencies before using any clothing that could be construed as police uniforms. “While some may wish to use it for positive reasons, others might exploit it for negative purposes. Therefore, it is wise to obtain authorized approval before utilizing anything that might appear to be impersonating the police,” he added.

VeryDarkMan also expressed his gratitude to his lawyer for their continued support during this situation, saying, “A shout out to my lawyer, @adeyanjudeji, who is always ready to assist.”
