Asaba, Nigeria – Professor Amos Utuama, the former Deputy Governor of Delta State, has passed away at the age of 77.

The seasoned politician and Senior Advocate of Nigeria reportedly died in Lagos in the early hours of Saturday after a prolonged illness.

Hailing from Ughievwen in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Utuama was a notable figure in Delta State’s political landscape. He served as the deputy governor alongside former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan from 2007 to 2015 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Prior to his role as deputy governor, Utuama contributed to the state’s legal framework, having served as the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General during the administration of former Governor James Ibori. Political associates confirmed his passing, marking the end of a distinguished public service career in Delta.
