Abuja, Nigeria — President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to swear in a new group of ministers on Monday, following the Senate’s confirmation of the nominees last week.

The announcement was made by Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, on Sunday.

The lineup of appointees includes Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi as Minister of Labour and Employment, and Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Other notable appointments include Dr. Jumoke Oduwole as Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment; Idi Mukhtar Maiha as Minister of Livestock Development; Yusuf Abdullahi Ata as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development; and Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad as Minister of State for Education.

The nominees received Senate confirmation on Wednesday after a detailed screening during plenary. Some nominees, who had previously held governmental roles, were asked only to introduce themselves before being excused from further questioning.

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, representing Anambra, drew attention to the underfunded state of Nigeria’s embassies abroad during her presentation to the Senate. She described the facilities as “deplorable” and unreflective of Nigeria’s global standing. Advocating for improved funding and renovations, she urged lawmakers to support a conducive environment for foreign diplomacy.

Emphasizing a renewed dedication to public service, Bianca stated, “If we are dedicated to serving this nation with an aim of fostering peace, we will prevail.”
