Governor Eno expressed his appreciation for Etukudoh’s service and wished him success in future endeavors.
Uyo, Nigeria – Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has relieved Engr. Meyen Etukudoh of his duties as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Ibom Power Company (IPC).
Prince Enobong Uwah, Secretary to the State Government, announced the decision via a statement on Thursday evening, effective immediately.
The announcement follows closely on the heels of Etukudoh’s explanation of the ongoing statewide power outage, which began on Wednesday. Etukudoh’s statement revealed that the power outage was caused by a disagreement between Ibom Power Company and Savannah Energy, its gas supplier, over payment issues.
The Governor’s directive is part of what the administration describes as ongoing reforms under the ARISE Agenda, aimed at achieving the state’s power sector goals. “As part of the ongoing restructuring of this administration, in alignment with the government’s objectives in the power sector under the ARISE Agenda, Governor Umo has relieved the Managing Director of Ibom Power Company Limited, Engr. Meyen Etukudoh, of his duties effective November 14, 2024,” the official statement read.
Etukudoh has been directed to hand over to the Commissioner for the Ministry of Power, who will take over operational oversight of the company until a permanent replacement is named. The Governor expressed his appreciation for Etukudoh’s service and wished him success in future endeavors.
