Karoline Leavitt Named White House Press Secretary by President-elect Trump
In a significant announcement on Friday, President-elect Donald Trump appointed 27-year-old Karoline Leavitt as his White House press secretary. In a statement, Trump praised Leavitt, highlighting her intelligence, resilience, and communication skills. “I am confident she will excel at the podium and effectively convey our message to the American public,” he remarked.
Leavitt’s appointment makes her one of the youngest individuals to hold this crucial position, where she will serve as the face of the White House and address inquiries from the media.
She previously held the role of national press secretary during Trump’s campaign and recently welcomed her first child in July, just ahead of the election, as she shared in a Fox News podcast released on Friday. Leavitt’s political journey began as an assistant press secretary for Trump during his first term before she aimed for a seat in the House of Representatives in New Hampshire in 2022, though her bid was unsuccessful.
In addition to her experience with Trump, she has served as the communications director for Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, who has been nominated by Trump to become the UN ambassador. Reflecting on her background, Leavitt stated, “I didn’t grow up in a political family. I had a typical middle-class upbringing in a business family here in New Hampshire.” She detailed her entry into the political arena while attending Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire.
