Delivering the ruling, Justice Emeka Nwite mandated Bello to provide two sureties, each required to present an affidavit of means and own properties within Abuja. The court further directed that the title documents for the properties be verified by its Deputy Chief Registrar.
The former governor, who appeared before the court on Friday, pleaded not guilty to charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The former governor is facing 19 counts of alleged money laundering amounting to ₦80 billion.
During the proceedings, Kemi Pinheiro, counsel for the EFCC, withdrew an earlier application seeking to fast-track the arraignment. Justice Nwite approved the withdrawal.
