Abakaliki, Nigeria – A 40-year-old man, Joshua Nwafor, has been accused of killing his wife, Charity Nwafor, during a domestic dispute over a tuber of yam in Nsokkara, Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The couple, who had been married for 17 years and shared children, reportedly had an argument in their home over how the yam should be prepared. According to eyewitness accounts, Joshua brought out the yam to cook for the family, but Charity insisted on roasting it instead. She went ahead to roast the yam, sparking an altercation.
The disagreement reportedly escalated when Joshua dragged Charity into a room, locked the door, and beat her severely, leading to her death.
An eyewitness urged couples to seek peaceful solutions during disputes and advised individuals in abusive marriages to leave, regardless of societal pressures, to avoid such tragic outcomes.
