Abuja, Nigeria – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for politicizing recent stampedes at palliative distribution centers that led to several deaths across the country.

In a statement issued on Monday, APC spokesperson Felix Morka accused the PDP of exploiting a time of national mourning for political gain, instead of sympathizing with the victims and their families.

Morka noted that the stampedes in Oyo, Anambra, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have united Nigerians in grief and reflection over how such tragedies could have been prevented through better planning and coordination.

“Our thoughts and prayers remain with the victims and their families,” Morka said. “It is grossly indecent, insensitive, and despicable for the PDP to exploit these tragic incidents in a senseless attack against the administration that has devoted itself to fixing the ruins of nearly two decades of PDP administration.”

The APC spokesperson further reminded Nigerians of the 2014 stampede during a recruitment exercise by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) under the PDP-led government, which resulted in the deaths of several job seekers. He described the incident as a reflection of the opposition party’s “sordid record of maladministration and utter incompetence.”

The APC emphasized that, rather than pointing fingers, the focus should remain on mourning the victims and working toward measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
