Why many women Remain unmarried in their 30s — Actor Kanayo
Nollywood Actor Kanayo O. Kanayo Shares Insights on Why Some Women Remain Unmarried in Their 30s

In a recent interview with News Central, veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo shared his perspective on a trend he observes among women who find themselves unmarried in their 30s. According to Kanayo, many women often spend their early adult years in relationships with affluent, often older men, which he argues leads them to overlook younger suitors who may have genuine intentions.

He highlighted a common scenario where a young woman, typically in university, begins dating a wealthy older man, sometimes even someone who is already married. “A young woman might be in her late teens or early twenties, and she starts dating a very rich guy,” Kanayo explained. “Because of the material benefits—like a car or a house—that this older man provides, she becomes accustomed to a high lifestyle and tends to dismiss the advances of younger men.”

As this pattern continues into her mid-20s, Kanayo noted a concerning trend: as women age, they may miss out on long-term relationship opportunities, finding themselves single by the time they reach their late 20s or early 30s. He remarked, “By 25 or 26, she is often still unmarried, having rejected younger prospective partners, and as she turns 29 or 30, many men may no longer view her with the same level of attraction.”

The actor pointed out the shift in urgency for marriage that tends to occur as women approach their mid-30s. He metaphorically described this transition, stating, “At 23, she enjoys a carefree lifestyle, but by 28 she finds herself as a ‘prayer point,’ and at 33, it becomes a ‘state of emergency’ as eligible suitors appear scarce. Even at 35, she may remain unmarried, unaware that her fun days are dwindling, transitioning instead to fervent prayers for a life partner.”

Through his commentary, Kanayo O. Kanayo sheds light on the complex dynamics of relationships and societal expectations, prompting reflection on the choices many women face during their formative years.
