The governor made the announcement on Thursday during the 2024 Aro Day celebration at the Aro Civic Centre in Arochukwu Local Government Area.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to people-centred governance, emphasizing the importance of creating opportunities for self-sufficiency.

“On December 27, I will be signing our budget for 2025,” Otti stated. “The budget I’m about to sign has allocated 20% of the ₦750 billion to education and 15% to healthcare.”

He added, “Governance is not about sharing money but creating an enabling environment for people to fend for themselves.”

The governor announced that starting from 2025, teachers in Abia State would receive a significant salary increase under a discriminatory compensation package. “If a teacher was earning ₦20,000 before, he will now earn ₦50,000,” Otti declared, drawing applause from the audience.

Otti also addressed ongoing efforts to renovate schools across the state, including schools in Arochukwu Local Government, stating that his administration is working to ensure that public schools meet a standard that reflects quality education.

On healthcare, Otti revealed that the government has begun the retrofitting and renovation of the state’s 22 General Hospitals and 948 Primary Health Centers. Of these, 200 Primary Health Centers are already undergoing upgrades, with plans to address the remaining 748 in due course.

The governor highlighted major road projects initiated by his administration, including the construction of the Ohafia–Ututu–Ihechiowa–Arochukwu and Arochukwu–Ini roads, as well as the Okobo road. He assured the public that no project under his administration would be abandoned.

“One thing you can take to the bank is that any job we start, we’ll finish it. In our dictionary, there is no abandoned project,” Otti affirmed.

Governor Otti expressed gratitude to the people of Arochukwu for their support and commended His Eminence, Eze Dr. Eberechukwu Oji, the 9th Eze Aro, for his exemplary leadership.
