Coronavirus: Nigerian Government Orders Closure of all Tertiary Institutions

The Nigerian government via its ministry of education has ordered the closure of tertiary institutions across the country to help forestall the spread of coronavirus.

The permanent secretary of the ministry of education, Sonny Echono, disclosed this on Thursday.

“We have directed all higher institutions to close this weekend. Unity Schools that have completed their exams are to close immediately. Others are to hurry and close the latest on 26th March,” he said.

The Closure of all Tertiary Institutions is coming as four new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Lagos state, the nations commercial capital.The country now has 12 confirmed cases of the virus with one confirmed to have recovered.

Nigeria recorded its first case of the virus on the 27th of February, 2020. The first carrier, an Italian, is said to have recovered and now tests positive to the virus.
