Minna, Nigeria – The Federal Government has allocated N940.5 billion to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for the 2025 fiscal year to enhance infrastructure and manpower development in the education sector.
President Bola Tinubu disclosed this on Saturday at the 42nd Founders’ Day and 33rd Convocation Ceremony of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMinna). The president, represented by the Director of Tertiary Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, Rakiya Iliyasu, said the allocation underscores his administration’s commitment to improving higher education in Nigeria.

The president urged universities to strengthen collaborations with industries, aligning research with societal needs to drive national development. He also congratulated the graduates, encouraging them to embrace the next phase of their lives with confidence and purpose.
The Vice-Chancellor of FUTMinna, Prof. Faruk Adamu-Kuta, described the convocation as a historic event, highlighting the university’s growth as a leading institution in technological education. He noted that FUTMinna ranks 8th among Nigerian universities and 2nd among specialized institutions.
Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State expressed appreciation to the university for conferring on him a Doctorate Degree in Agriculture, describing it as a motivation to further contribute to the sector. He pledged to collaborate with stakeholders to enhance access to education in the state.
Bago also advocated for stronger ties between the university and the state government to ensure sustainability through agriculture. He announced a donation of N100 million to an endowment fund established by Senator Muhammad Sani-Musa, who also contributed N200 million.
According to NAN, the university produced 5,816 graduates for the 2023/2024 academic session, including 4,955 undergraduates, 632 master’s degree holders, 105 postgraduate diploma holders, and 124 PhD graduates.
