Burna Boy ventures into Nollywood with “3 Cold Dishes,” co-produced by Osas Ighodaro, tackling sex trafficking in a multilingual African adventure.

Nigerian actress Osas Ighodaro has officially taken on the role of co-producer for Burna Boy’s debut film, “3 Cold Dishes,” an adventure drama tackling sex trafficking. With a star-studded cast and bold themes, this project Is set to mark Burna Boy’s leap into Nollywood as a storyteller beyond music.

“3 Cold Dishes” explores themes of trust, betrayal, and justice, focusing on three teenagers who, years after being forced into sex slavery by trusted figures, unite to seek revenge. The multilingual film unfolds across Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and Benin, incorporating English, Yoruba, and French. Speaking on the In My Opinion podcast, Osas Ighodaro expressed her excitement about the film:

“It is an adventure where we navigate English and French-speaking countries, telling a gripping story with a powerful social message.”

The film features a cast including Wale Ojo, Femi Jacobs, and notable Côte d’Ivoire actresses, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Asurf Oluseyi. Burna Boy’s production company, Spaceship Films, helmed by him and his mother Bose Ogulu, began pre-production in 2022 and commenced filming in April 2023.

This collaboration between Nollywood powerhouses and African talents exemplifies a commitment to amplifying African narratives on a global stage.

The focus on sex trafficking sheds light on a pressing issue plaguing sub-Saharan Africa, blending entertainment with advocacy. Osas Ighodaro emphasized the importance of the story, adding depth to the production’s impact.
