Nigerian singer Korede Bello has opened up about his departure from Don Jazzy’s Mavins Records, where he had been signed for seven years.
The Godwin crooner, who joined Mavins in 2014 and left in 2021, spoke candidly during an interview with Hip TV, hosted by reality star KimOprah.
Bello explained that his decision to exit the label was rooted in a desire for personal growth and introspection. He felt that staying at Mavins had reduced him to a “product” primarily focused on making money, which led him to reassess his values and motivations.
Singer, Korede Bello has opened up on why he left Don Jazzy-led Mavins Records. Recall that Bello signed with Mavins in February 2014 but exited the label in 2021.
Speaking in a recent interview with Hip TV hosted by reality star KimOprah, the singer revealed that he left Mavins because he felt like a product that was just there to make money.
He said, “I was at a season in my life where I needed to metamorphose, to explore my inner worth, to do introspection, understand myself, understand meaning more, and reconnect to my why.
“Because I was at a stage where I started to feel like a product that is just there [at Mavins Records] to make money.
“You lose sight of what matters when you chase after the next hit, after the next whatever it is that can get you into conversations. So a lot of artists are addicted to that circle.”
Reflecting on his experience, Bello noted that many artists become “addicted” to the cycle of chasing the next hit, but for him, it was crucial to break away and rediscover his “why.”
