He recalled being the most whipped and punished among his siblings, as he refused to conform to his father’s expectations. “I was the kid who wouldn’t do what I was told to do,” Charly Boy said. “My father forgot that he was the one who planted that seed in my head, always telling us to query and investigate everything. So, I had this constant vocal battle with him.”
Charly Boy acknowledged that their personalities clashed, leading to a lack of understanding and bonding between them. However, as they grew older, they began to appreciate each other’s unique qualities. Despite their differences, Charly Boy recognized the importance of his father’s influence on his life.
“I didn’t understand his methodology, and he didn’t think I was a good kid,” Charly Boy admitted. “But as we got older, we started to see the beauty of our personalities. We didn’t agree on anything, but I realized that this didn’t enable me to bond with my father. He didn’t know who I was, and I didn’t know who the hell he was.”
