Nigerian music star and former winner of the first season of Project Fame West Africa, Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, known by his stage name Iyanya has revealed he had no idea he was a character of Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson’s memoir, “I Am Not Yvonne Nelson.”
The musician who is currently in Ghana to promote his latest EP LOVE & TRUST in an interview, revealed he had no idea about the content of the book when he first recorded an endorsement for it.
Speaking to Foster Aggor Aggor in an interview on Starra 103.5 FM, the Kukere hitmaker revealed he did the video endorsement out of her love for Yvonne Nelson only to be hurt later.
“I was hurt. I won’t lie to you. She called that she was launching a book and needed a video to endorse the book, but I didn’t know I was in the book. I did that because we are cool. So it was when the book came out, and I knew I was in the book,” he said.
On Sunday, June 18, 2023, Yvonne Nelson released a memoir titled I Am Not Yvonne Nelson as the world celebrated Father’s Day.
The actress shared details of her failed amorous relationships with musicians including Sarkodie and Iyanya.
Despite accusing Iyanya of engaging in a secret affair with actress Tonto Dikeh during their time together, Yvonne in Chapter 10 of the book titled “Iyanya and My Love Life”, described their romance as a dreamy affair, complete with intimate gestures such as breakfast in bed, and even shares how she believed their love was everlasting when lyanya tattooed her initials, YN, on his wrist as a symbol of their commitment.
