Army corporal arrested for stealing 602 rounds of ammunition in borno state

The Nigerian Army has arrested Corporal Francis Bako in Borno State for allegedly stealing a significant amount of ammunition. Reports indicate that Bako was found with 602 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

The arrest was carried out by troops from Operation Hadin Kai, working in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force in Maiduguri. The development was revealed by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst for the Lake Chad region, through a post on his X handle on Tuesday.

According to Makama, the arrest took place at Kano Motor Park in Maiduguri after a tip-off. Military intelligence intercepted Bako, who was traveling from Mallam Fatori to Kaduna. Upon searching him, they discovered the ammunition.

Currently, Bako is in military custody for further investigation. The Nigerian Army has not yet issued an official statement on the matter. The post included visuals of the soldier and the confiscated ammunition, highlighting the gravity of the incident.
