Augustine Eguavoen Completes Mandate with Super Eagles, NFF to Resume Search for Permanent Head Coach
Augustine Eguavoen has resigned from his role as interim coach of the Super Eagles, having fulfilled his mandate to lead the team for two key matches.
Eguavoen, also the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Director, took on the role temporarily after efforts to secure a permanent head coach fell through.
Under his brief stewardship, the Super Eagles secured a 3-0 victory over Benin Republic and held Rwanda to a 0-0 draw in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Eguavoen confirmed that his appointment was only intended for these two matches, which he has now completed. The NFF will continue its search for a permanent head coach to lead the team moving forward.
