Bandits Kill Pastor in Niger State After Collecting Ransom

Bandits operating in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State have killed Pastor Joshua Musa despite receiving ransom for his release. Musa, originally from Nasarawa State, served as a pastor at the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA) in the Sarkin Pawa Community.

Members of ECWA confirmed the pastor’s death on social media, expressing their condolences to his family. One member, Sunny Danbaba, shared that Pastor Musa and his wife were kidnapped in Shiroro DCC. After the ransom was paid, the bandits initially released them, but tragically, they dragged the pastor back and killed him as they were leaving the forest.

While Musa’s wife and other victims were spared and allowed to return home, the pastor was not as fortunate. The kidnapping occurred seven days ago, and even after the ransom was paid, the bandits decided to take Musa’s life.

When contacted on Monday, Niger State Police Command Spokesman Wasiu Abiodun stated that he would investigate the incident and provide more information.
