Lagos, Nigeria – In a rare display of integrity, Auwal Dankode, a staff of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO Aviance), has been rewarded for his honesty and diligence. Dankode, a cleaner at the Kano Airport, stumbled upon $10,000 left behind by a passenger on an Egypt Air flight and promptly returned it to the airline’s station manager.
The company’s Group Managing Director/CEO, Indranil Gupta, praised Dankode for his exemplary character, saying he is a true NAHCO ambassador who embodies the values of honesty, integrity, diligence, and hard work. Gupta announced a cash reward, instant promotion, and appointment as NAHCO Brand Ambassador for the cleaner.
At an event held at the company’s Head Office in Lagos, Gupta commended Dankode for his selfless act, stating that the company is proud of his exemplary behavior. He encouraged Dankode to continue working with high integrity and diligence, urging him to remain a good ambassador for the company.
Other senior executives at NAHCO Aviance also spoke at the event, praising Dankode’s integrity and humility. Chief Financial Officer Adeoye Emiloju noted that Dankode’s display of honesty is not something that can be feigned, but rather an innate quality that sets him apart. COO Didier Steullet encouraged Dankode to stay grounded and continue making a positive impact.
Group Executive Director Sola Obabori added that Dankode’s actions have made him a poster boy for NAHCO not only in Nigeria but globally, thanks to social media. He praised Dankode for his purity of heart and commendable actions, saying that every well-meaning Nigerian will appreciate what he has done.
