Abeokuta, Ogun State – In a chilling incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a 13-year-old girl, Oriyomi Adegboyega, was found dismembered, with her hands severed, near Igbosoro River in Igode village. The suspect, Ogidan Mustapha, was arrested in the early hours of Friday while attempting to dump the body near the river.

According to Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the State Command of Nigeria Police, Mustapha was caught at around 1:30 am while trying to dispose of the corpse. The body was wrapped in a mat, and upon closer inspection, police found that Oriyomi’s hands had been amputated. The identity of the deceased was later confirmed as Oriyomi Adegboyega, a 13-year-old girl.

During interrogation, Mustapha denied dismembering the girl’s body but admitted to carrying a complete corpse after being asked by Oriyomi’s father, Sunday Adegboyega, to assist in burying her far away from home. However, police discovered that two other suspects were also involved in digging the grave.

The police spokesperson revealed that the mother of the deceased, Peace Adegboyega, had initially reported that her daughter died of electrocution on Thursday morning. However, she was shocked to learn that their neighbor had been found with her daughter’s dismembered corpse.

The investigation led to the discovery of two English pump action rifles and various local charms in Mustapha’s house. The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The police have launched a probe into the gruesome murder, which has left the community in a state of shock and mourning.
