Edo Governor Appoints Fresh Leadership for Internal Revenue Board
Edo State Governor Appoints New Executive Chairman for Board of Internal Revenue

Governor Monday Okpehbolo of Edo State has officially appointed Oladele Bankole-Balogun as the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Board of Internal Revenue. This announcement was made on Saturday by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor.

In the statement, it was confirmed that other executive directors will include Deacon Idiake Patrick Akhimien, representing Edo Central; Hon. Mike Ohio Ezomo, representing Edo North; and Hon. Engr. Jackson Eribo, representing Edo South.

The statement noted, “For public awareness, the appointment of Oladele Bankole-Balogun as Executive Chairman of the Edo State Board of Internal Revenue has been approved by Senator Monday Okpehbolo, the Governor of Edo State.”

Bankole-Balogun, a native of Igarra in Akoko-Edo, has a strong academic background, holding a BSc (Hons) in Political Science from the University of Ibadan (1984), an LLB (Hons) from the University of London, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the College of Law, Store Street, London.

His professional affiliations include memberships in the Law Society of England and Wales, the Nigeria Bar Association, the International Bar Association, and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK).

His diverse career spans multiple sectors; he has held positions at Cadbury Nigeria Plc from 1985 to 1989, and at Pfizer UK from 1989 to 1994. He also served as Chairman of Alphabet House Ltd, a director at Allen Angus Resources Ltd, and Chairman of the Barking and Havering Hospital Trust Appointments Board. Between 2012 and 2015, he was a Federal Commissioner for the Public Complaints Commission representing Edo State.

In the political arena, Bankole-Balogun has been an aspirant and candidate for the House of Representatives elections in Akoko Edo Federal Constituency and recently participated as a member of the APC Campaign Council for the upcoming 2024 gubernatorial elections in Edo State.

The statement concludes with the names of the other executive directors appointed to the Edo State Board of Internal Revenue: Deacon Idiake Patrick Akhimien (Edo Central), Hon. Mike Ohio Ezomo (Edo North), and Hon. Engr. Jackson Eribo (Edo South).
