Governor Mbah of Enugu State in a move geared towards the development of the Coal City State has signed three crucial bills into law.
The newly enacted legislations aim to address various aspects of urban expansion, digitization of services, and electoral reforms within the state.
The first of the signed bills is the New Enugu City Development Agency Bill. This legislation provides a legal framework for the expansion of the Enugu metropolis, facilitating the accommodation of a growing population.
It grants administrative authority to the agency to manage the development of the new city master plan, ensuring sustained growth for future administrations.
Accompanying this is the Enugu State Geographical Information System Service Bill. This law focuses on automating and digitizing processes for service delivery, particularly in land administration.
Notably, it promises residents and investors expedited processing of Certificates of Occupancy, with a commitment to completing the process within 72 hours.
The development revealed by the governor via his social media handle on Saturday also reflected on the electoral commission of Enugu State.
The Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) (Amendment) Bill was signed into law as well. This amendment aligns the state’s electoral body with recent changes to the 1999 Constitution regarding electoral bodies, aiming to enhance the credibility and efficiency of the electoral process in Enugu State.
Governor Mbah expressed gratitude to the State House of Assembly for their diligent efforts in passing these executive bills.
The enactment of these laws marks a significant step forward in ensuring sustainable development, efficient service delivery, and transparent governance in Enugu State.
