EFCC Investigates Viral Bribery Claim as Bobrisky Accuses Officers of N15 Million Extortion
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced an investigation following claims made by Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, regarding an alleged N15 million bribe to its officers.
In a recent viral video, Bobrisky, an ex-convict, accused unnamed EFCC officials of accepting the sum to drop money laundering charges against him. The video, produced by Martins Vincent Otse (aka VeryDarkMan), has sparked widespread attention.
Responding to the serious allegations, EFCC Chairman Mr. Ola Olukoyede has ordered an immediate investigation. The commission has set up a team of investigators to examine the claims thoroughly.
In a press release, the EFCC stated, “We invite both Okuneye and Otse to present themselves at our Lagos Directorate to assist in our inquiries.” The commission has pledged transparency, assuring the public that the findings of the investigation will be made public.
The EFCC emphasized its commitment to integrity, professionalism, and collaboration in all its operations, reaffirming its dedication to combating corruption in Nigeria.
Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, made the announcement on September 24, 2024.
