EFCC urged collaboration between NCC to Combat Internet Fraud

In a bid to tackle the growing menace of internet fraud in Nigeria, Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has called for increased collaboration between the EFCC and the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC).

During a courtesy visit by Dr Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Olukoyede emphasized the need for a unified approach to combating cybercriminal activities. He highlighted the evolving nature of internet fraud and urged the NCC to strengthen its regulatory efforts to curb these criminal activities effectively.

Olukoyede stressed the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and regulators, stating that such partnerships would disrupt the operations of fraudsters who exploit technology for criminal purposes.

He assured that the EFCC, in collaboration with the NCC and other stakeholders, is committed to ensuring that criminality does not thrive in the digital space.

Addressing the purpose of his visit, Dr Aminu Maida reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between the NCC and the EFCC in the fight against internet fraud. He emphasized the need for continuous engagement and cooperation between the two commissions to address the sophisticated nature of cybercrimes effectively.

Maida also commended the EFCC for its role in facilitating the forensic training of NCC staff, underscoring the importance of knowledge sharing and capacity building in combating internet-related crimes.

As internet crimes continue to evolve, both agencies have expressed their readiness to collaborate closely to protect citizens and promote a corruption-free society.

This collaborative effort aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at fostering national development and security.
