Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has sharply criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Saying “This Administration is Exclusively Wicked,” About its policies.
In a recent statement, Atiku described the current leadership as “exclusively wicked” and expressed his deep disapproval, stating that he could never envy a president who causes suffering among the populace.
Atiku’s comments come amid Nigeria’s ongoing economic struggles, including rising inflation, escalating fuel prices, and widespread poverty. The former vice president pointedly criticized Tinubu’s administration for what he described as “trial-and-error economic policies”, which he believes have worsened the hardship faced by ordinary Nigerians.
In a tweet titled “What We Would Have Done Differently”, Atiku laid out his own proposals for addressing Nigeria’s economic woes, suggesting reforms he believes would ease the current burden on citizens. His remarks reflect not just a personal attack but a call for alternative policies to lift the country out of its economic quagmire.
“I can’t envy a president inflicting pain on Nigerians. This administration is exclusively wicked,” Atiku said.
Atiku also emphasized that while he may not be in power, his comments were made with the best interests of Nigerians in mind, expressing his commitment to better governance and more effective economic management.
In response, the presidency quickly fired back, with Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, accusing Atiku of harboring resentment towards Tinubu’s presidency. Onanuga suggested that Atiku’s ongoing criticisms were fueled by envy over his electoral defeat in the 2023 elections. According to the presidency, Atiku’s remarks were aimed more at undermining the current administration than addressing issues within his own political party.
The presidency also took issue with Atiku’s economic proposals, dismissing them as outdated and rejected by voters during the last election. Onanuga pointed out that simply repackaging failed ideas would not provide solutions to Nigeria’s pressing economic challenges.
Furthermore, the presidency criticized Atiku for suggesting a long consultation period to implement his policies, arguing that immediate action was needed to address the country’s economic difficulties.
“We need leadership that listens to the people, not one that causes further harm. Nigeria deserves better,” Atiku stated in his address.
