Hunger Protest: FG begins to sell 50kg rice at N40,000

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has announced a move to distribute additional 10 trucks of 50kg rice to each state to be sold at designated centers at N40,000. This is part of efforts to address poverty and the high cost of living in the country.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this during a briefing at the end of the FEC meeting. According to him, the government is already addressing many of the demands being made by protesters, making it unnecessary for them to go ahead with their planned protests.

The Minister explained that the government has been working to make food available by distributing trucks of rice to each state. He said that the President has already taken steps to address the concerns of the youth, including the provision of loans to students and the creation of employment opportunities through the Micro-Trading and Transport Program.

Idris also highlighted the government’s efforts to reduce the cost of transportation by introducing renewable energy-powered buses, which is expected to reduce costs by over 60%. He appealed to those planning to protest to reconsider their actions, citing the potential for violence and disruption.

The government has acknowledged that it is committed to addressing the concerns of Nigerians and has been making significant progress in various sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure development, and education. The Minister emphasized that there is no need for protest, as many of the demands being made are already being addressed.

The government’s efforts include the distribution of food items, provision of loans to students, creation of employment opportunities, reduction in transportation costs, and improvement in infrastructure development. The Minister urged those planning to protest to consider these efforts and not disrupt public peace.

In conclusion, the Federal Government’s move to distribute rice and address other concerns shows its commitment to alleviating poverty and reducing the cost of living. The government is appealing to those planning to protest to reconsider their actions and give peace a chance.
