Man Loses ₦1.2M school fees to Sports betting

A Nigerian man, identified on Twitter as @surmasantavious, has expressed shock and dismay after his brother lost his entire school fees on sports betting through the platform formerly known as Twitter.

According to @surmasantavious, his father had transferred a significant sum of N1.2 million to his elder sibling to cover his tuition fees and other expenses. However, instead of using the funds for its intended purpose, his brother opted to gamble on electronic betting and unfortunately lost all the money.

The young man took to Twitter to share screenshots of the betting tickets that led to the loss, expressing his disbelief and uncertainty about how to respond to his brother’s actions.

In his tweet, he wrote, “Jesus. My dad sent 1.2m for my (elder) senior bro to clear his school fees and stuffs. He just messaged me now showing me lost (bet) ticket of 1.2m. I don’t even know what to reply him.”

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers and consequences associated with irresponsible gambling practices, particularly when it involves essential funds meant for crucial expenses like education.
