NDLEA Seizes cocaine and Meth worth over N4.1 billion in Aba

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made a significant breakthrough in its fight against drug trafficking, arresting several drug barons and seizing large quantities of illegal drugs worth over N4.1 billion.

According to the agency’s spokesman, Femi Babafemi, the arrests and seizures were made through months of intelligence gathering and special operations conducted in various parts of the country. In one operation, officers seized 20.76 kilograms of cocaine and methamphetamine from a hideout in Aba, Abia State, while another operation in Lagos State led to the discovery of an expansive warehouse stocked with codeine-based syrup.

In addition to these seizures, NDLEA operatives arrested several individuals suspected of drug trafficking and distribution. In Kano State, two men were arrested with 230,600 pills of tramadol and codeine syrup, while in Ogun State, three men were arrested with 390 kilograms of cannabis. In Edo State, four men were arrested for processing cannabis, and in Abuja, two men were arrested with a new mixture of psychotropic substances.

The agency also destroyed large quantities of cannabis and other illegal substances in various states, including Ekiti and Ogun. The operations were conducted with the support of other security agencies.

NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the agency’s officers and men for their efforts and urged them to continue their drug supply reduction and demand reduction efforts.

The agency’s WADA sensitization activities also continued across the country, targeting schools, worship centers, workplaces, and communities to educate the public about the dangers of drug abuse.

Overall, the recent operations demonstrate NDLEA’s commitment to eradicating drug trafficking and abuse in Nigeria.
