Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCom) has identified the Canadian Nigerian woman who made a disturbing video call for the mass killing of Yoruba and Benin people through mass poisoning of their food and water. The woman, identified as Amaka Patience Sunnberger, a resident of Ontario, Canada, had appeared in a viral TikTok video calling for the murder of South-Westerners and people of Benin, Edo State capital.

In the video, the woman, who spoke in Pidgin language, vowed to start poisoning foods and waters of Yoruba and Benin people at her place of work. She also urged people of the South-East region to develop a hard heart and start poisoning Yoruba and Benin people by poisoning their foods and waters anywhere they see them.

The woman’s call was met with widespread outrage, with many Nigerians condemning her actions as unacceptable. NiDCom Chairman Abike Dabiri-Erewa reacted to the video, stating that the commission had identified the woman and was working with authorities in Canada to take appropriate action.

Despite deleting her TikTok account, a group of Nigerians living in Canada has reported her to the relevant authorities in Canada. The NiDCom boss confirmed that the woman’s identity had been revealed, posting a photo of her on social media.

The incident has sparked concerns about the growing wave of hate speech and ethnic violence in Nigeria. The NiDCom’s swift response to this incident has been hailed as a positive step towards addressing these issues.

In a statement, NiDCom Chairman Abike Dabiri-Erewa said, “We will not tolerate hate speech and violence in our community. We will continue to work with authorities in Canada and Nigeria to ensure that those who promote hate speech are held accountable.”
