After immense public pressure and intervention involving several key figures including @Mazi_OJD, @YeleSowore, @adeyanjudeji, @Adebayo_Ralph, and myself, the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that @PIDOMNIGERIA is alive
The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of a prominent whistleblower known by the pseudonym @PIDOMNIGERIA. The whistleblower, who gained recognition for exposing high-profile corruption and human rights abuses in Nigeria, had been reported missing after going silent on social media since August 15, 2024.
With a following of over 200,000 users on X (formerly Twitter), his sudden disappearance sparked widespread concern within the Nigerian online community, leading to the trending campaign #FreePidom, demanding his release.
A document that surfaced on X, titled “Police Administrative Bail Condition” and dated the same day the whistleblower went offline, identified the whistleblower as Bristol Isaac. The document also indicated that he was being held by the Nigerian police on suspicion of committing computer-related fraud.
Further confirmation of the arrest came from investigative journalist David Hundeyin, who, on Friday, revealed that the whistleblower had been seen in police custody. Hundeyin stated that the authorities are planning to arraign him next week.
“After immense public pressure and intervention involving several key figures including @Mazi_OJD, @YeleSowore, @adeyanjudeji, @Adebayo_Ralph, and myself, the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that @PIDOMNIGERIA is alive and currently detained at the FCID in Abuja,” Hundeyin reported.
He added, “A member of our intervention team in Abuja physically saw him and confirmed that he is alive and well. The police have indicated that he will be arraigned in court next week. We are now requesting a copy of his charge sheet to prepare a bail application. Nigerians must maintain the pressure to ensure that this situation does not escalate.”
The arrest of @PIDOMNIGERIA has raised significant concerns among his supporters and the broader public, who continue to call for transparency and justice in his case.
