Nigerian Army Chief Issues Warning to Criminals, Promises Enhanced Welfare for Troops

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has sent a strong message to criminal elements in the country, warning them to leave the country or face the full force of the Nigerian Army. He made this declaration during a maiden operational visit to the 1 Division Nigerian Army in Kaduna on Wednesday.

General Oluyede emphasized that the Nigerian Army under his leadership is more serious and formidable than ever before, and urged adversaries to be prepared to face the new and improved force. He also revealed that he had signed his command philosophy in December, which prioritizes leadership, sound administration, and professionalism.

The army chief stressed that the welfare of soldiers is crucial to their ability to effectively rid the country of criminals. He promised to enhance their welfare by improving their accommodation, equipment, and training, enabling them to give their best to their duties.

General Oluyede also addressed the troops at the front line, urging them to remain resilient and disclosing that the Army would employ new strategies to improve operations. He inaugurated two blocks of family accommodation at Kotoko Barracks, Ribadu Cantonment, and remodeled the Stallion Officers’ Mess at the division’s Headquarters.

In another development, General Oluyede addressed students of Junior Course 98 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji, Kaduna State. He charged them to be enterprising, diligent, and resourceful, as these attributes would enable them to build successful careers and personal lives.

The army chief highlighted the objective of the college, which is to develop professional knowledge and understanding among selected officers to prepare them for staff and command appointments. He commended the students for learning vital concepts during their 23-week course, including counterterrorism and counter-insurgency operations.

General Oluyede also emphasized the importance of leadership, dedication, and ability to inspire confidence in subordinates. He congratulated the students on completing their course and presented prizes to those who distinguished themselves.
