Tragic Turn in the Case of Missing LASU Graduate as Pastor Arrested for Alleged Murder
The hopes of 28-year-old Ogubode Adedamola, a 2024 Political Science Education graduate from Lagos State University (LASU), to participate in the upcoming convocation on April 3rd, 2025, have been dashed by an alleged murder committed by a local pastor.
According to reports, Evangelist Whepetoji Babaniyeh has been taken into custody by the police in connection with this grave incident. However, when approached for comment, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, stated that he was unaware of the arrest.
Adedamola, who was also the Chief Executive Officer of Horlar Edu Consultancy, a venture operating on the LASU campus, went missing on January 16, 2025. His girlfriend, who requested to remain anonymous, recounted that she spoke to Adedamola shortly before his disappearance. He informed her he was in front of the CCC Ileri Oluwa Parish at LASU 2 and would return her call; however, he never did.
Following his report of missing person, the police reportedly investigated the church based on information from his girlfriend, but the pastor allegedly denied seeing Adedamola or knowing about his whereabouts. During their investigation, authorities reviewed his bank statements and found a startling transaction: N1.5 million had been transferred on the day he vanished.
Further inquiries revealed that a portion of this sum had been transferred into the bank accounts of both the pastor and his daughter. Some LASU students who spoke with Vanguard via phone indicated that the pastor first denied receiving any money, only to later assert that it was intended for a Thanksgiving offering after the police presented him with evidence of the transaction. This led to his detention for further questioning.
In a shocking development, Adedamola’s body was later discovered buried near the church grounds. Additionally, a gun and an axe were reportedly seized from the pastor during the investigation.
