Nigerian Pastor Tobi Adegboyega Responds to Deportation Ruling and Justifies Extravagant Lifestyle
Tobi Adegboyega, the founder of the Salvation Proclaimers Anointed Church (commonly referred to as SPAC Nation), has defended his lavish lifestyle in the United Kingdom amid a recent ruling regarding his immigration status. The 44-year-old pastor is facing deportation after the UK Upper Tribunal ruled that he overstayed his visitor’s visa, which he initially entered the country on in 2005.
During the tribunal hearings, Adegboyega explained that his extravagant lifestyle is supported financially by his wife, Mary Olubukola Alade, who earns £100,000 annually working at AON. He emphasized that his display of wealth was intended to inspire the younger members of his congregation by showcasing legitimate pathways to financial success, particularly through entrepreneurship.
“I live with my partner, who supports me entirely,” he stated. “I have a first-class law degree from Nigeria, but I have chosen to dedicate my life to helping those in need, sacrificing my legal career in the process.” Adegboyega argued that all of his personal possessions, including designer clothing and luxury vehicles, were purchased by Alade, asserting that he has never profited from church funds.
The court’s ruling also included commentary on his lifestyle choices, but Adegboyega remained adamant about his intentions, reinforcing his commitment to motivating young people to explore lawful means of generating income.
In response to the deportation ruling, Adegboyega expressed confidence in his situation, proclaiming, “I’m right here at home, with no reason for concern. I will continue to dismiss any attempts at undermining me. Every Nigerian should take pride in my achievements.”
He further declared his resilience, highlighting his survival in London, a city he claims is notorious for undermining individuals. “I have encountered numerous challenges here, yet I have thrived. No one can change that,” he asserted.
Adegboyega’s statements reflect his ongoing determination to remain a prominent figure within his community, despite the legal hurdles he currently faces.
