Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Scholarship Students Excel in Academic Pursuits, First Class Haul

The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) has announced an impressive academic record among its scholarship students, with at least 60 beneficiaries achieving first-class honours in various disciplines between 2016 and 2023. According to Dr. Charles Ariye, Head of Education at PAP, the students’ remarkable performance is a testament to the programme’s commitment to developing human capital in the Niger Delta region.

The first-class students have excelled in fields such as electrical engineering, computer science, civil engineering, accounting, law, petroleum engineering, physics, international relations, and biochemistry, among others. The latest addition to this list is Kemien Egbekun, who graduated with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.77 in Law from the Michael and Cecilia Ibru University in Delta State.

Egbekun’s achievement was replicated by two other students, Oladapo Damilola and Toikumo Prosper, who also bagged second-class upper-division grades in Law. The trio participated in the university’s 6th convocation ceremony on September 6, 2024.

While the programme is still awaiting the scorecard for 2024 from partnering institutions, PAP Administrator Dr. Dennis Otuaro has expressed delight over the outstanding academic performances of its scholarship students. Otuaro attributed the students’ success to the strong support they receive from President Bola Tinubu, which aligns with his Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at promoting sustainable peace, stability, and development in the Niger Delta.

The PAP boss stressed that the programme’s focus on educational and vocational initiatives is yielding positive results, and efforts will be intensified to achieve more in this area. “We are elated by the fantastic academic performances of our scholarship students,” Otuaro said. “These achievements reinforce the fact that we are on the right track implementing our mandate. We must thank President Bola Tinubu for his strong support and commitment to the development of the Niger Delta region.”

The PAP’s academic achievements are a testament to its commitment to empowering young minds and developing human capital in the region. As the programme continues to grow and thrive, it is expected that even more students will excel in their academic pursuits, further solidifying its reputation as a leader in educational initiatives.
