Remi Tinubu donates 2,400 bags of rice to vulnerable Rivers households

The wife of the Rivers State Governor, Valerie Siminalayi Fubara, has presented a massive food support package to vulnerable and underprivileged residents in the state’s 23 local government areas. The initiative is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative Food Security Programme, a collaborative effort between the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.

At a ceremony held at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Mrs Fubara revealed that each local government area received 90 bags of 25kg rice, totaling 2,400 bags across the state. She emphasized that the distribution is designed to benefit those who need it most, including the physically challenged, the vulnerable, and those living in poverty.

The governor’s wife appealed to those representing their local government areas to ensure that the gift reaches the intended beneficiaries without any bias or corruption. “We want to ensure that these gifts get to those who truly need them,” she said.

Mrs Fubara thanked Senator Tinubu and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture for their generosity and partnership in this initiative. She also praised her husband’s administration for contributing cash to each bag of rice, making it a comprehensive package for those in need.

Representatives from various local government areas and organizations received the gifts on behalf of their communities. Mrs Jetiba Soberekon, President of the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), appreciated the inclusion of women in this scheme and pledged that the organization would distribute the gifts strictly among its members who are less privileged.

Other recipients expressed gratitude to Senator Tinubu and Mrs Fubara for their thoughtfulness and kindness. They noted that this gesture will help alleviate hunger and restore hope to those struggling to survive. The gifts were also distributed to orphanages and homes for the elderly in Port Harcourt.

The Rivers State government’s initiative demonstrates its commitment to addressing poverty and food insecurity in the state. The distribution of food aid will undoubtedly bring relief to many families and individuals who are struggling to make ends meet.
