A scavenger identified simply as Nuhu has stabbed a police inspector multiple times and snatched his AK-47 rifled in the Ada-George axis of Port Harcourt, in Rivers state, the local police authority has confirmed .
The man was also said to have started shooting sporadically with the snatched riffle.
The miscreant also attacked another police officer who tried to stop him and reportedly took to his heels. On getting to a location called ‘Boro Pit’, the man started shooting sporadically injuring a man before the operatives arrived at the location.
A source who pleaded anonymity said, “This man (Nuhu) is believed to be on drugs. Even when the policemen saw him, he tried to shoot them, and they repelled and shot him dead.”
The spokesperson for the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, while confirming the incident, said the incident occurred on November 16, 2023.
The miscreant shot and killed a passerby during the face-off with the police. He was later shot dead by the officers on duty.
