Sokoto Governor Approves N300m Monthly for 2024 Retirees' Gratuity

Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu has authorized the immediate release of N300 million per month for the payment of gratuities to civil servants who retired in 2024.

The directive ensures that retirees from January 2024 to the present will benefit from this initiative.

In a statement issued by Mr. Sirajo Ibrahim Gada, Public Relations Officer of the Sokoto State Ministry of Finance, it was revealed that the State Accountant General, Alhaji Umar Balarabe Ahmad, who also serves as the Chairman of the State Gratuity Payment Committee, announced the decision. He noted that this gesture is part of the Governor’s commitment to providing relief to retirees and their families during these challenging times.

Ahmad also mentioned that the ongoing payment of outstanding gratuities, inherited from previous administrations covering the years 2015 to December 2023, is nearing completion. He added that arrangements are being finalized to streamline the payment process for the 2024 retirees, with a focus on a “first-come, first-served” approach to ensure timely disbursement of funds.
