Speed Darlington Granted Bail After Nearly Month-Long Police Custody

Popular rapper Darlington Okoye, commonly known as Speed Darlington, has been granted bail following his nearly month-long detention by police, according to his legal counsel, Stanley Alieke. Alieke took to Instagram on Monday to share the news, stating, “Apki has been granted bail by the court,” but did not provide further details.

Speed Darlington was apprehended on November 27 while performing at an event in Owerri, a city in Imo State. His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, revealed that Burna Boy, another well-known artist, was allegedly involved in the circumstances surrounding Darlington’s arrest.

The controversy ignited after Speed Darlington publicly criticized Burna Boy for his connection to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who is currently facing serious allegations including sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Despite the arrest, Speed Darlington has vowed to continue calling out the Grammy Award-winning artist over his association with the embattled Diddy.

Adeyanju had earlier indicated that Speed Darlington would be formally charged within 48 hours unless he was released on bail. He commented, “Our FREP application for Speed Darlington has been granted by the court. He is to be arraigned within 48 hours or released. While issues regarding injustice may take time to resolve, justice will ultimately prevail.”
